Hi All,

Just a quick question. Is it normal to go through a set of front pads on an
'02 ZX9R in less than 12,000km?? Mine have about 1.5-2mm of material left
on them and I don't ride that hard either (10,000km out of the Pilot Sport
rear tyre). I trail the rear brake in traffic rather than jumping on the
front brakes all the time - rear pads are only about 40% worn. It's done
two track days - 1 x Eastern Ck, 1 x Oran Park.

Or is this one of the "joys" of owning a big(ish) sports bike??

What are people's suggestions for replacement pads?? Is there anything out
there that will last a little longer?? (Yeh, yeh, yeh.....how long is a
piece of string?)

As far as I know if the pad lasts longer the disk doesn't last as long.
Which is cheaper? :-)

I hope my pads last longer. :-)

Great, using the brakes is better than using the engine/tranny. Pads are relatively cheap.

Pad life sounds ballpark.

Dunno if the 02 9R has the same brakes as the 99 6R (6 pot tokicos?) but the
service limit is 1mm and I get about 20,000 km out of a set.
If you let them go down to the service limit make sure you check the pads
from all angles in case of uneven wear.
