Paging the FOAK ....
The Blue 400/4 came to me with no key for the steering lock so the
lock will have to be replaced. Not a problem, I thought, David Silver
stocks them.
Getting the old one out is, however, presenting a problem. The rivet
secumbed easily to a slide hammer but the lock mechanism still does not
want to come out, it is just free to move in or out by a few mm.
Am I missing a simple trick or will I have to resort to drilling it
into little pieces ?.
The Haynes BOL, as expected, offers no clues.

You need the key to get it out.

One of the wafers is holding it in. This moves when the ey is inserted.

I spent some happy time figuring out how locks worked when I replaced
the locks on my K recently.

Drill it out.

There are/were a number of videos on Youtube on making lock picks. If
you follow the instructions you should be able to get the lock out,
without the aggravation of drilling. Just turn the lock and pull it
out, once the riveted cover is removed. Neiman locks are supposed to
be easy to pick, or so Traffic used to recon.
Please don't use your new skills for any felonious adventures, and
NEVER EVER carry any lock picks when you go out. It is a serious
offence to carry tools for theft!
Good luck.
