4004 exhaust gasket gasket

These look; to me, like gaskets still stuck in the head.

They were under another set of gaskets...
Can anyone confirm that there isn't some sort of insert in the head
before I bugger it up trying to haul out what I think are gaskets.....

There's no insert in the head. Looks like someone didn't realise there
were still existing gasket rings in the manifold and just bunged in
another set. I've seen it before.

Lever them out with a screwdriver blade and carry on.

I know I have, having mistaken severely crushed gasket rings for the
manifold casting itself.

On my 250LC, I deliberately put on 2 exhaust gaskets, as with just one
it started leaking too quickly
