Greetings to the group

Havent exactly won the lottery but managed to scrape up enough dosh over the
last 3 years for a deposit on a weekender.

Want to go away from Jap ( first time and insane some would say) and so Ive
decided on a Ducati. Prefer a fully faired kit ...So it's a toss up between
the 900SS which is currently at a discounted model run-out price OR buy
the new Fully Faired SS800 instead.

Has anybody had experience with both these machines?

Biggus ..you first!

If you want an on-paper opinion about motorcycles, Hatz is your man.

2 wheels did a review on the new range earlier this year

the 800ss was perhaps the suprise pick , being smoother and less lumpy than
say the 1000ds
and not that much slower

the 1000ds has got good reviews in pommy bike mags also

my suggestion perhaps that a cheaper 900ss is better than a new 800ss

a suggestion tho, make sure you take the bike for a good long ride, the
current shape 900ss have one of the most extreme riding positions ive ridden
far worst than my zx7r for instant.

i'd like 1000ds monster tho, **** off those horrid bars, some clipons and
hello cafe racer ;-)

the 2K extra is prob worth it to get the newer tech motor

depends on what you really think of it

and besides i think they should be more than $2K cheaper for an old model last years bike

the clutch is part of the ducati experience

keeps the oil cleaner too

and doesnt matter what oil you run as not going to get clutch slip from oil choice

Yeah comes a time when BHP, x.xxsecs per race track lap means ****,day to
day rideability would be more important

Ducati make bikes for both customers

I prefer air-cooled over water-cooled which
adds,radiator,water-pumps,weight,cost,complex nature of all these when they
are not really needed

I have not owned a 1:1 Ducati (plenty of 1:18 models :-)) )but the SS are a
nice looking and performing bike my choice from the current range would be
the Multistrada.

Good luck with your choice hope you enjoy it and the superior quality and
resale v Jappers

Has anyone had a fang on the Multistrada yet? I ride an R1100GS so I'm (in
theory) the kind of rider they are targeting. But I haven't found a dealer
with a demonstrator yet.

You could always upgrade to a tasty 2002 R1150GS in come-****-me Mandarin,
with ABS etc etc.
Just had 20,000km service, one carefree owner.

Nah Way - they have more than two.

I've seen at least 5 or 6 riding around the place!

Unless it's just the same two guys on lots of different bikes...
there's a thought.
