Alarms and other security measures

hi all,

I'm about to re-enter the motorcycling world 12 months after my bike was
stolen. (I can't take it anymore...)

I am living in the same house which doesn't have a garage, and exposes
the bike to the street (it will be parked on the veranda which is where
the old bike got stolen from) So I'm obviously pretty keen to get an
alarm or some other type of security system in an attempt to stop it
getting stolen again. Can people comment of their experiences using
after market security systems - what are the different types of alarms
available - eg, ones that call your mobile, or can track the bike
through gps etc etc... and what sort of prices am I looking at?

How effective do people believe alarms to be? Although the dickheads
that stole my bike were probably taking a huge risk (i was sleeping in
the room next to the veranda at the time) I didn't have an alarm...and
if I did, it would have woken me up, and i could have got the 3 iron out.

Also - does having an alarm reduce your insurance premiums?

Thanks in advance for your comments and/or answers.
G.

AM alarm is a start , and one of those huge unbreakable locks and a
suitable multistrand wire cable// that will stop the kiddies and
amatuers.

Do they make an alarm which will call out your name?

frequency range of a human voice and even adults respond more readily to the

A 2000 GSX-R750 is more desirable than an 85 model R80RT with 60,000kms
on the clock, just my opinion.....(he's come the rock solid BMW
100,000kms thread)

I DO need help about which alarm to choose though, so if you can offer
some, please don't hesitate.
