They were used in the late 1800 to early 1900s. I've seen one at a tractor show. Evidently there are still a few restored ones around. Looks like they could get popular again, what with the cost of gas/diesel. Our Farmall A is gas, the "M" is gas/propane. Our Massey F. Backhoe uses gas too but we also have a Massey Ferguson 235, which uses diesel. If he doesn't run it wide open, Joe can run the 235 all day on one fill-up and have some left in the tank. Better have a thick wallet to run that backhoe. You'd have to fill it up as often as you would a motorcycle on a long road trip, though not near that amount in the Mo-cyle. ;^) SW |
