We owned an A-C tractor when I was a kid.
But, it had the narrow front wheels.

That looks like a show item for sure.

But what do you do with one of those? Do you need a license?

Yeah, I'll give you that...long as it's as old as the A line. 8^)
Sorry I got a soft spot for the old "A" especially the late model row
crop front end. What can I say, it was the first vehicle I drove after
learning to ride a motorcycle. Ain't nothing like firing up an A in
the morning. Well allowing for firing up a steam powered tractor.

Oh, it's old. It was built before our "M"... and the "M" was built
the same year I was born.

> Sorry I got a soft spot for the old "A" especially the late model row

Our "A" has a wide front, where the "M" has the tricycle front. It
also has a 4 tine drop-down plow underneath and a 3 tine plow in
back. I can email you a pic, if you want... She's old and she looks
it but she runs and plows like she just came off the assembly line.

Steam, huh? "Road Locomotives" that were introduced in 1868. They
were used in the late 1800 to early 1900s. I've seen one at a tractor
show. Evidently there are still a few restored ones around. Looks
like they could get popular again, what with the cost of gas/diesel.
Our Farmall A is gas, the "M" is gas/propane. Our Massey F. Backhoe
uses gas too but we also have a Massey Ferguson 235, which uses
diesel. If he doesn't run it wide open, Joe can run the 235 all day
on one fill-up and have some left in the tank. Better have a thick
wallet to run that backhoe. You'd have to fill it up as often as you
would a motorcycle on a long road trip, though not near that amount in
the Mo-cyle. ;^)
