Blue 1975. Tatty tank and side panels, nice shiny motad pipe (am I bad
that I prefer the nose on these?), engine seems to be fine!
Nice shiny chrome mudguards and chain guard. Side reflectors
A years MOT and the brakes work. Just needs a polish really.

The idea was to nick the good bits, break and sell the rest but I just
know I'm going to end up owning two..................

Isn't this the S.O. Honda 400 4 group on odd months?
(The S.O. BMWs being on evens...)

Come on, tell us the full story. Price, pictures, disasters, etc.

I happen to have a very nice tank and panel set. They've been resprayed
in red, but the colour isn't quite right, and he's used the wrong year
of side panel decals. There are one or two minute bubbles in the tank
paint, too.

So for a proper restoration, they need complete refinishing again. But
to smarten up a tatty bike, they'd be perfect.

I've got them listed to start on eBay on 1 August. For you, my son, I
could stop the auction before it starts, if you want them.

I've only had it up to second gear about the yard so far but it works
fine.
Only bad bits are:

Cibie headlight with integral pond but working (worryingly even when the
things switched off)
Fag packet foil paper around one of the fuses.
No grab handle.
Motad pipe
Seat is non original.
Clutch adjustor at engine end is slightly broken.
Horn button plastic cover missing (but functioning)
Indicator bulb blown.
Cable guide at front mudguard missing.
Disc cover missing.
Side panels are a bit manky but have the grommets.
Tanks is sound and not too rusty inside, scratched and dented but not
been resprayed.

I think its been a bike that's been ridden

Ah well, the tank is good enough to restore so I guess I might pass on
this.
I have some side panels also.

The guy I got it from seems too like 400 4's. He had a good half dozen
in bits about the place and many spares in racks

He does refinished tanks for 320 quid each (270 if you give him your old
tank).

I'd say £150 for the tank and panel set. Comes complete with tap and a
horrible fuel gauge set into the filler cap that can be instantly
junked.

Bear in mind that even tatty tanks now fetch £50-60 on eBay as long as
they're not corroded away, and decent side panels are £15-20 each.

You'd be able to flog the tatty set you've got with the bike and that
would cover half the cost straightaway.

I'm in Chile until 7 August, so no hurry. SW London area - collect or
UR.

eBay it - I got £35 for my last Cibie unit. Then stuff a sealed beam
unit into the Honda shell.

> Fag packet foil paper around one of the fuses.

Bad news. Fusebox prolly corroded: very common. Then they melt a hole
through it.

<studies fingernails>

Got one of these starting on eBay on 1 August, too

Got one of these too.... Not for sale.

Good enough.

Got a nice seat, too, and it's not been listed yet.

Will have one in mid-August..

Easily fixed.

> Indicator bulb blown.

Ditto

Got one.

> Disc cover missing.

Got one, due to start on eBay on 1 August

Very nice indeed. Thank you for thinking of me

I need to have a good look at the thing first though; there may yet be
some horror lurking.......

Thanks for the list
