Speaking of which; Michelle bought me "Love, Speed and Loss" and I watched
it today.
Very sad.
1973 was a bad year with Saarinen leading the 500 championship when he died
and Newcombe 2nd when he died. (And both the victims of stupid officials
who couldn't give a **** about the riders !!)

According to Barry it was.
According to Kenny Roberts it was Kenny Roberts!

True; but he wasn't a top-three 500GP contender that year (And his Wiki page
reckons he WASN'T actually the victim of Walter Villa's oil-spill as has
long been alleged but rather that his bike had siezed all of it's own accord
and pitched him into the wall.
It's always been reported that he died on impact [as opposed to Saarinen who
was lying on the road still alive until he was hit by the pack] but in Love,
Speed and Loss John Dodds reckoned that Pasolini was still alive until Dodds
himself hit him and killed him.)
Tough stuff.
