Ok, if it costs $150 for the raw material to make widgets, you have to
charge more for widgets to make money, right?
If it costs $35 for the raw material to make widgets, but people want to
buy less widgets, so you run your factory at 85% of capacity, you still
have nearly the same amount of costs to make widgets as if you ran at
100%, so you have to charge more for widgets to make money.
It's pretty simple really.
But I wouldn't sweat it much, the Obamites will make sure we don't have
cheap gas again when they put that extra 50 cents a gallon European tax
on it.
