My '97 VFR750 is up for a service and there's no way I'm taking it back to
Peter Stevens.

Can someone recommend a place in Melbourne, preferably near or in the CBD
to do a service?

Was thinking of taking it to Bike Barn in Elizabeth St but I've never heard
if theyre good or not. Has anybody ever used them?

Also need new rubber and looking for a place still selling Bridgestone
tyres but dont want to go back to Dunlop or Michelin if possible.

thanks!
Ross.

No news is good news. I haven't heard any horror stories.

I've taken bikes for servicing to Motorcycle City in Elizabeth Street
without any bad experiences. I know several other people who've also
been there and been happy with the work.

I took my bike to Garners in North Melbourne (Cnr Peel St & Queesbury St)
and they seemed to quite good. Staff were helpfull, and the cost was pretty
good.

I got Bridgstone's at "Pablos" tyres.
BT010 on the front and BT020 on the rear.
The BT010 on the front is stickier.
Fitted while I waited.
Little bit cheaper than elsewhere.
Very happy with them compared to OEM MEZ3's.
Ive got an SV650 and after 7thou Klms they are 1/3 to 1/2 gone.
I think they are dual compound.
Bit harder in the middle for the commuter miles, softer on the sides for the
weekend.
Ben.

Was this recently or say more than 6 months ago? I used to be a Pablos
customer till about 3 rear tyres ago when they had a big falling out with the
Australian Bridgestone importer and severed their ties and stopped retailing
Bridgestones around February this year. I got my last set from Redwing (who
don't deal with the Bridgestone importer either -for the same reasons as
Pablos- but ordered in a set for me through another distributor).
I prefer the tyre shops rather than the bike shops because there's less
waiting around time and when tyres are due for replacement rarely coincides
with service intervals.

My 2 cents...
Since owning my postie I've only needed to replace one tyre once, and my
knowledge of bike shops stretching as far as elizabeth st, went to peter
stevens tyre service... $60 later, new tyre, new tube, fitted. all in 20
minutes.
quite happy, and i'll be going back.
