When I traded in the R1150R a few days ago, I paid what I thought was a
little over the top for the "new" bike, but was fairly happy to do so as
the trade-in value for the boxer was a lot more than I expected to get
for it and was actually more than I paid for it when I bought it at the
height of last summer.

I was intrigued to see what he'd get for the boxer when he came to sell
it, and was quite surprised to find that with 4 days to go, it was
already up to what he gave me for it.

I'd perhaps not have been surprised in April/May/June, but Feb? When
it's snowing again?

I'm intrigued to see what this goes for in the end

That's cleaner than the 1150GS I used to have, which was a 2006 one.

Less miles though which might go some way to explaining it.

TBH I'm suprised you traded it in for only £3k.

I traded at £3.2k. Despite sharing a significant number of common parts,
the R has never has the same cult following as the GS, and as such
prices have been significantly lower used.

When I bought this one last year, a GS in similar condition etc would
have cost me around 1500-1800 more.

There was an £1800 differential in the new price in 2003, so the R is doing
quite well to maintain the same differential in the used market

Well as in "not doing well at all" I take it.

For it to do the same the price differential % should be the same, to do
well, the % should be less.
