Dont give me the kick in the nuts suggestions, im lookin to get a new bike as im seriously considering trading the EL250 in,
(at long farking last some of you are thinking i bet)

I had started chasing up buying a VT500 but that fell through as the guy selling it sold it within 3 hours of me contacting him.
I was setting my pipe dreams on a bike akin to the following

in order of reduced scale of "dreaming"

SZR660 (big fat fat pipe dream)
VT500
GR650
XBR500
SR500
LTD440
late '80s Pantah
GS500(e/k)
ER500 (a or c)
EN450
Perhaps even a XJR 400 or 550

So does anyone have any leads? im just thinking, am likely to sell/trade my bike in in the next 2 weeks.

tah

Why? While not exactly the most popular ride in the park, Yamaha did manage
to shift a few of them. The local Action outlet had a cafe
racer/streetfighter versh going a couple of weeks back... underslung pipe,
Buell-style, to show off the gull swingarm.

For a parts-bin special, these are a pretty trick little bike... Brembo
brakes, Paioli forks, and absolutely gorgeous bodywork... motor out of the
XTZ660 Tenere, which is a direct cousin of the XT600, which Yamaha are still
selling, so parts won't be a problem... only thing about them is that
there's no way you'll squeeze your knees into the tank cutouts if you're
more than 180cm.

I could really go one of them as a second bike, actually.

Bikepoint's got one in NSW, '98 model with heaps of rego and a few shiny
bits... bloke wants $5800.

You could track down a MuZ. They use the 5-valve Yamaha660 single in good
frame, with good running gear.

I was thinking about 3k-3.5k, but i've decided that in the meantime i am going to
just get new sprockets and tyres and tough it out with my bike for a few months
on friday im getting a +1 toothed front sprocket fitted when getting tyres, chain
and sprockets so i dont have to race through the gears quite as badly or risk
bungling the motor again through over-revving it

So i may hold off until later in the yr, i got a bike that goes sweetly, just use and enjoy
it i think. Half the incentive was talking to some of youse blokers here, the other half
was talking to a guy at the shop, he said the same thing (he sold me the bike, thinks
its a wee ripper)

thanks for the foor for thought thou zeeb
