Is he? That's not what the judge said.

What he *did* say was ""We do not know whether Davis was guilty or not, but
his conviction cannot be said to be safe."

In which case, that is *exactly* what he said. No safe conviction:
innocent.

More so because it was one that England could have won in a period of
time when winning was a rarity.

On the other hand, he was provably a scum bag who would certainly have
committed other crimes during the time he was locked up for the one he
says he didn't commit. And he committed one soon after he came out.
