Well I managed to get a taste of riding in the middle of what is
shaping up to be a long nasty winter.

The Motorcycle Show is in town.

There was little new at this years version of the show. The bikes all
looked the same. It's strange how the different brands all meld into
one mass of spit and polished paint and chrome, when viewed in the
close confines of an arena.

The usual suspects were there hawking helmets. pipes, chrome and
leather products.

The riding associations were well represented. In fact the back cover
of the show's program was devoted to a picture and message from the
President of our Yamaha association.

Good on ya Pat. We can't let that Harley crowd dominate every
publication.

One of the features I enjoy at these shows are the motels, resorts and
tourist associations that are there to promote their local
attractions. Many of these people I already know, from the rides I
have organized. This year I met a new group. The International Selkirk
Loop.

It was just a few days ago I was asking for information about this
area, well sort of. The area I was inquiring about was a little East
of the Selkirk Loop, but it was close.

Anyway this group of 400 international businesses have produced a very
tight package promoting the motorcycle friendly enterprises along the
loop. I might try to fit some of the loop in this years ride.

On the plus side, I managed to keep my spending to a minimum. I picked
up a couple of magazine subscriptions, the obligatory pair of
sunglasses and a pair of new high tech insoles for my boots. I must be
getting old(er) if I am getting excited about new insoles for my
boots. <g>

Aside from all that, there was the usual bevy of babes, with the
Amsoil girls getting top marks for style, charm and lack of clothing.
:-)

To top off an enjoyable day, a very warm day in Cowtown, I managed to
sneak the RK out for a short ride. It was great to feel the joy of
riding on two wheels again. Unfortunately now I will have to spend the
better part of tomorrow trying to wash all the friggin salt off of it.

Oh well, it is a small price to pay.

This group was running at max wpm's, smoothly. Now you gone and clogged it
up.

OK, we'll reboot

A motorcycle show in the winter, and going to a totally nude joint.

My local newspaper (Houston Chronicle) showed Calgary was expecting a high
today higher than Houston's.
