Where can we get statistics of which BIKES pass the California DMVriding test?

It should be a matter of public record which bikes pass the California DMV
riding test and on which try (1st, 2nd, or 3rd).

But where would one get a hold of that public record?

Does anyone here work for the government who might know where that data
is located or whom to ask that would provide it?

It should? In what dream world does the DMV collect and distribute
that sort of data? (And can you imagine the well-justified screams
coming from taxpayers who want to know why their tax money was being
wasted that way?) All the DMV cares about is whether or not the
*rider* can pass the test: there are no rules stating that you must
ride certain bikes or even that the bike must be your own.

If you don't feel up to taking the California DMV test on your own
bike, then go borrow a street-legal dual sport trials bike somewhere
and do it that way.

The DMV writes down every motorcycle that takes the test and the status.
Anyone who has taken the test has to fill out the forms.

They have the statistics.

The question is how to get those statistics.

This question isn't about your emotion; it's about the truth.

If anyone has an idea of how to obtain the statistics from the California
DMV (i.e., the truth), let me know.

Thanks.

Hi Twibil,

Did you ever take the California DMV test? Did you ever fill out the
forms. Guess what is on those forms? Yup. You guessed it. The bike.

They have this information.

The question isn't whether or not YOU can pass the test nor if I can (I
have my license already); the question is how to get the statistics.

I don't know how to get a hold of those statistics; but I'm surprised
NOBODY here knows how to get a hold of those statistics.

Don't any bikers work for the government?

Oh sure. And I suppose you'd have us believe this
is not yet another one of those government coverups ?

Don't make me laugh.

Yes. And the truth is that several people from this forum alone have
passed the test on either their first or second try, just as many
other people pass that same test on all sorts of bikes all the time.

If your emotions can't deal with that, and your ego demands that you
call them liars because it makes you feel better about your own
limited skills, it frankly isn't anyone's problem but your own.

Yes. And passed it on the first try on a '98 Honda VFR, despite not
being the world's most skilled rider.

But of course if you'd actually read the thread you'd already have
known that...

Poor soul, do you really not understand that nobody bothers to keep
track of that sort of thing? That the DMV has *always* been
chronically understaffed and overworked, and that that's why you used
to have to stand in line for at least an hour to get your new driver's
license (or whatever) and that that was the case long *before* the
current staffing and budget cutbacks? That writing info down on a
form has zilch to do with actually having someone collate the data and
store it somewhere? And that it would have taken untold -and
unbudgeted- hours to do so for no worthwhile return so far as the DMV
is concerned?

Sorry; the DMV doesn't work like that. And never did.

> They have this information.

Sorry. Just saying so doesn't make it true.

Sure they do. I even know a couple.

Face it: the coverup here is that "Joe Schmoe" and "JM" are the same
guy; trolling because he couldn't pass the riding test and wants to
blame anyone other than himself for that fact.

Sorry, JoeSchmoe, but the rules of rec.motorcycles (aka "reeky")
prohibit actually anwering any newbie's question.

The obnoxious clique inhabiting reeky will argue endlessly and insult
the newbie and each other, but will *never* give him any useful
information.
