Background: FJ1200 used occasionally, and discovvered no pressure when
clutch lever pulled in, and blindingly apparent no clutch operational
when I put bike in gear. Clutch fluid reservoir practically empty.

Topped up fluid and bled it. Fluid coming through bleed valve but with
no real pressure (occasional spurt). And still no pressure on clutch.
What else can I check? I always thought hydraulics were simple??

Very simple!
Maybe you've just got a heap of air in there. Try loosening the line
where it bolts to the master-cylinder and bleeding it there (otherwise
you have to push the air all the way through).
I think I'd be trying to figure out where the fluid has gone though. If
there's a leak from the slave-cylinder you'll need to do something about
that first.
