Resplendent in a cast-off Aer Fungus uniform, Lizzie planted a sapling
to a fanfare from the Ruritanian Marching Boys. They don't half have her
walking around a lot, ye'd think they could have rustled up an old golf
buggy for her and Phil. I mean ffs, they're a pair of pensioners.
Cowen must be gutting himself; but for an accident of timing, the
frog-faced little ****er would be shaking Lizzie's hand himself.
So, it's not all bad.

I'm waiting for the MJ Carley post! Good old royalist boy that he is.
I've been trying not to listen to the revisionist history of the Republicans
as spouted by the Beeb, lest I have to bomb some fecker ;o)

R4 interviewed two Oirish journohacks this morning. By 'ek they spoke the
most sense I've heard coming out of the Free State this past 80 years.

It was picked up that Norn Iron is *not* part of Great Britain as the "boys"
like to complain of. It's part of the United Kingdom of GB and Norn Iron,
just as most folk who live there like it.
That folks who plant bombs and screech their racist and xenophobic rants are
about as unirish as a body could be.
That there are about 60,000 Irish folk living in England and barely an Irish
family without a cousin who sports an English accent.
Since the Good Friday agreement the UK and RoI govmints have been as close
as any two in Europe.
and so on.

Fair brightened me day up boyo.

I don't think anybody has yet put up the video of our being shouted at
during the Bath republican picnic.

The only embarassment in the situation has been the servility of the
Irish government. The bright side has been assorted monarchist
lickspittles whinging because they weren't invited to meet Her Maj.

What `revisionist history' would that be?

You've been listening all eighty? One of them usually makes sense, and
indeed did so this morning:

To'ibi'n, on the other hand, should stick to novels

Wouldn't know that from listening to some folk around here.

I can't find a flaw in it. Thinking of my relatives who emigrated
here, the Irish came for those reasons and stayed for those reasons.

It is finely written. It strays however. Into the old socialist invective
that really belongs in the first half of last century. "Class" is a worn out
term. In modern Britain people are divided by intelligence, aspiration, and
education. Those are just the Human Condition. And still by inherited
wealth, which don't want to grasp because it may include the house that
*they* hope to inherit too.
It also recounts a lie. That the Welfare State is being destroyed. It is
being refined to deal with more people claiming less resources. Well, UK is
declining in terms of percentage of global wealth/trade. It is being refined
as nobody is (was ever) prepared to support those who are simply lazy. But
is potentially strengthened if it becomes more fit for purpose.

It does allude to what a lot of Irishmen have said to me over the years.
Nationalism, Independence and the dictatorship of the RCC were the worst
things that happened in Ireland and devolution within the UK would have been
so much better. But if you believe some, it started as a grass roots
Marxist revolution and got subverted at the end by vested interests who used
it to take an even firmer grip, so you can kinda understand how it panned
out.
