Hello all,
My name is Rob Tang and I am studying Industrial Design at Carleton
University.
For those who are not too familiar with ID, it is a fusion of art and
engineering. We design and innovate everyday products you interact
with; from toothbrushes, to cellular phones, to cars. (Everything
except buildings and bridges)
Our goal is, through research and observation, to find areas of
opportunity/improvement and capitalize on them with designed
solutions.
The focus of this project is motorcycle safety equipment, which over
the course of 8 months, all aspects of the design process will be
covered. (From research, to concept development, to prototyping, to
testing, and to final product.)
I am currently in the research phase of the project. This phase will
explore your world and identify problematic areas you encounter as a
rider. The problems will be answered with a designed solution during
the concept phase. These solutions will then be prototyped for you to
try and test.
So how can you help? To complete the research and testing phases, I
will need to interact with various riders to gather more insight into
your lifestyle with the bike. This would be in the form of
interviews, photo documentary, or video footage.
One of the possible directions of this project is passenger safety.
So if you often ride with a passenger, you and your partner would be
excellent candidates.
I would really like to meet with or contact some of you ASAP. So if
any of you are interested or have any questions, please feel free to
drop me an email. ((E-Mail Removed))
Thanks and hope to hear from you soon!
- Rob
