My Draggin Jeans lived up to their name and saved my skin recently. The ambos
did a good job checking me out too. They cut them from cuff to thigh to get a
look at my unmarked legs! Not that I'm complaining mind, they did a great job
and getting checked out quick was worth way more than $200. So was my skin.

A traffic cop came along to our club meeting to give a talk on road
rules etc.
During the talk he mentioned the method the casualty staff use to remove
ordinary jeans that become embedded in your legs during an "off slide",
it would seem that they use a stiff bristle scrubbing brush which
effectively takes away the cotton material along with the skin.
I would imagine it could make your eyes water a bit when you came around ??

I was wearing Draggins when I had my off last year, my experience was
quite different. I got thrown and hit the ground pretty hard (left
front helmet, chest and left leg primarily). I dont think I skidded
far, but cant remember. My legs didnt get chewed up, but the grazing
on my knees from impacting the kevlar fabric inside was as bad as any
grazing I've ever had, they were a mess (but other injuries were far
more important at the time). The pants I now have also have knee
armour (yes Draggin do that too but not particularly well).

It was your own fault, you have skinny legs!

Those whose trousers hug their nether limbs don't get that problem....

I've been grazed by the inside of my protective gear, if it can move
it will, and it won't be fun when it does. (My scars let me show you
them....)

Best method is to avoid falling off. Once I work that out I'll be
right!

I'd like some armour on my knees but I've got short legs and the store I
went to didn't stock the short leg version of the dririder nordic to
match the coat. I will probably go down to Brisbane and look in some
bigger stores eventually. Till then the replacement draggins will have
to do.

Oh I got a slight graze inside my coat on the left arm. Probably should
have tightened up the arm adjustments more.

I need a knee reconstruction too :-(
Thought I'd got away with it till it collapsed a couple of weeks later.
On the upside the insurance has come through and I get my bike back in
time for the weekend.

What sort of reconstruction , after several I know they sorta work
sometimes but the knee usually is never the same
Good luck with it what ever the outcome

Autograft from the tendons in the same leg.
Something about drilling a hole in the bone to make a conduit for it.
Bloke seemed to know what he was on about.

I do (or rather did!) vertical rescue with the SES.
With my knee the way it is now thats all gone. Hoping to get it back.
Breaking the leg would have been much easier.

My mum would do the same with a toothbrush if I grazed myself with gravel.

To sum it up.. yes. It did hurt. Dettol didn't make it any nicer.

That pic doesn't really provide any evidence that the kevlar provided
you with any benefit. You need to show a photo of the non-kevlar side
of the jeans as well. If there isn't any part of the jean which is
substantially more worn than the kevlar underneath it then they really
haven't done any more than a pair of Levis at half the price.

Why did the ambos cut them open? Did your legs feel like they were
injured? did the outside of the jeans give the impression that your legs
might be injured? I had the ambos cut the legs off a pair of my jeans
once before, but that was because you could see halfway through my leg
through the hole in the knee of the pants.
