There's no substitute for decent kit. If you buy cheap equipment, you
will have a trade off in that it won't keep you dry/warm, it won't
protect you as well, or it won't last as long.

I use Hein Gericke or Spidi equipment mostly, it's not top of the
range, but I like the quality and fit.

Paul.

i thought in the yukon they were always ****ed at night (and most of the
day too). if not, and you do live in the yukon, just get ****ed and don't
bother trying to ride your ped.

If it's cheap you want, Aldi have just had some kit in. Might be worth
a look.

I had a look at the Aldi stuff at the weekend, and I think the quality
of it has gone downhill from when they first introduced it. I don't know
if the Lidl stuff is similar.

The Lidl stuff that I bought ~3 years ago is of a much higher quality;
it's standing up to almost daily use pretty well, but getting to the
stage where I need to think about replacing it.

Yeah, but it sound like this guy is on a budget, so he probably has
little choice.

Also, no matter how expensive, the kit that keeps me warm on a bike in
winter hasn't been invented yet, so I might as well save my money.

Lidl gets a thumbs up from me as well, decent quality, particularly
considering the price. As for the cold, just wear as many layers as you can
under the kit. In my (admittedly very southern) experience your main
problems will actually be fingers, toes, and knees, so you need warm gloves
and shoes as well as some, erm, knee-thingies made of neoprene or whatever
else insulates adequately. Also, if you're skinny, a kidney belt might make
a world of difference.

You mean those pads you put in things .. yes

I have northface i bought for £50 off ebay that pretty good but I
still need protection the only minus is that I hate having to wear
layers of clothing .

I haver beard which will be a bit useful - not one of those bum fluff
things- I mean a proper full beard as all male beards should be : )

No- Im not in the Yukon ,actually up in craggy peaks of scotland .
( highlands ) its gets ****ing cold here too .

The main reason I want this bike ( zoomer honda ) is so I can go off
road - not dirt but trails i.e. paths otherwise a car would obviously
be far less hassel .

I'll check out the lidl options - Im not poor / poor but I will be a
bit after buying this rig I plan even though its at bargain i.e.
imported upgrades etc
