Hey guys,

A question for Conehead/Burnie/Jules and Deb/other raptor owners

How the bloody hell does the seat come off on the Raptor ? (without
damaging it, and while still being able to refit it before the smarties
jump in)

There's nothing in the manual and I'm stuffed if I can find a lock or
lever or what have you.

Thanks

JL

You'll have to split the cases.

Vague answer;
something like a key unlock at the rear (or something)...

It's there, but well hidden. Have a look under (as in right under) the
ducktail, LHS, around about where the rear-seat starts.

Found it - right where you said - well hidden though ! Seat is a bit of
a bugger to get back on. If the toolkit isn't flat enough the tab won't
go in the slot.

Ahh well. Know how to do it now - manual was useless (charming Ital-ish,
but useless)

Did you guys get a C spanner for doing the rear preload ? I don't seem
to have one. I also have a couple of very odd bits of metal in the
toolkit - 2 pieces of round rod about 10cm long with 2 90 degree bends
(ie the two long ends are parallel)

Also have a piece of metal with like a socket on each end but not hex -
round.

Any suggestions ?

Yeah, it's a bugger alright.

Not sure, they look like winders or dummy-bars or similar. Maybe they go
into a socket as a lever system.

Is this the toolkit that sits on top of the battery ?
I did not have a spanner to tighten the mirrors so I added (one only)
14?mm and the seat would not fit. A few other tools seemed to be
missing to me as well. In short, the toolkit has the same QC as the
rest of the bike

Winders are what you look out of when it's raining outside (and wish
it weren't)

Yup, well next to it, but same difference.

That's OK, the X raptor has different mirrors to the V and standard
Raptor, the X's mirrors are so stylishly Italian that you can't see a
damn thing in them anyway, so I can't say I'm like to bother adjusting
them <grin>

Whatsa behinda you duzzn't madda ! Why you wanna look for there anyway ?

Well at this point the QC hasn't shown up any dramas (touch wood) but
hey, give it time. I have a sneaking suspicion your standards are going
to be higher than mine, I'm expecting (and accepting of) Italian
quirkiness, just like I am English quirkiness (and the two are
distinctly different). If I wanted another Japanese bike (which has been
most of the fleet) I'd have bought one and enjoyed the utter reliability
that goes with it.

Besides, it's a Eurasian, it's got a Japanese engine, so that should be
reliable

Hmm, anyone know any Italian/Japanese Eurasian girls* ?

04 X raptor #202/999
04 Gilera DNA 180
89 KR1 (also renowned for unreliability while being huge fun, there
could be a pattern here)
