What's the buzz about BikeBiz at Paramatta? For bike servicing, are
they any good?

I assume you're talking about the one on the Great Western Highway, seeing
as you have a Hyosung (as opposed to the one on Parramatta Road which deals
with Triumphs 'n' Kwaks)?

I've had dealings with both (I have a Kwak, son #2 and son-in-law-to-be both
have Hyosungs) and didn't have any problems with them.

I wouldn't say they were the best service departments I've ever dealt with,
but they knew their stuff, did their work properly and didn't try to gouge
me price-wise (although they were nowhere near the cheapest in town).

There's actually only one service centre I'd whole-heartedly recommend, and
that's Trooper Lu's in Moorebank (yes, they are an authorised Hyosung
agent) - but that might be out of the way for you. A close second would be
FlyWheels in Alexandria (even further away).

Thanks Bob.

Yeah, It's about the Hyosung. Pity Moorebank is so far away from the
Blue Mountains. My Penrith dealer is less than impressive and he
seems to think bullshitting is a good customer relations ploy. :-(

Also, if I were Hyosung Korea, I'd invest a bit of money in putting
out a contract on the Melbourne mob who are the distributors(and hence
warranty and spare parts providers). They're killing Hyosyng's cred
here in Oz.

I wouldn't put up with that if the brand was mine... There'd be
bodies in the Yarra... And I'm sworn to non-violence... That'll give
you an idea of the size of my rage right now. I've been waiting on a
replacement for a broken exhaust pipe heat shield for six months
already.

Which brings up another topic: How does one fight slack warranty
issues short of having bodies floating down the Yarra?

That sounds to be an importer problem rather than your local service agent;
unless BikeBiz already has one in stock, you'll likely have to face similar
delays with them.

Once upon a time I stumbled across a site selling Hyosung parts directly
from Korea, but can't seem to find it right now. Did they say the
replacement would be covered under warranty? If so, it'd be pointless paying
for it yourself by ordering from an alternative supplier.

Having said that though, I had my front pipe replaced several times under
warranty by Kawasaki, for what was commonly known (by mechanics) as a design
fault but which Kawasaki themselves refused to admit - the internal baffle
would work itself loose due to faulty welds and then rattle like crazy. In
the end I replaced the pipes with aftermarket Cobras and haven't looked
back - better sound, better performance, better appearance.

No, the reason I want to go elsewhere for servicing is more to do with
my uneasy feeling about what looks to me like a pretty slack workshop
crew. I just don't get the right vibe from the place. Also, I don't
think they're taking their Hyosung dealer thing very seriously at all.
Bad servicing can kill you. I won't deal with a place I don't feel
"right" about.

>Did they say the replacement would be covered under warranty?

Yep. I sent them an email query yesterday and got a reply today. They
think they'll have the part on Tuesday.

I wish there were some good after-market pipes for the Hyosung. The
only ones I could find online from Australia were a Perth mob who made
some for the previous model, but not the 2011 model.

I found some Pommie site a while ago which had pipes I liked, but I
can't find it now. :-)

richardhyosung@gmail..?

I dealt with him a few times, didn't buy anything but my impressions
were good.

I thought Hyosung were working up to the 1982 model this year.

Get 'em made.

Of course that does mean you need to be near the pipemakers. If you
are in NSW then you could go to Foran's. I got him to make a set of
pipes for my Guzzi ages ago and he did a damn good job.

MIght be worth contacting them as someone might have already got a set
done and they keep the specs.

Wasn't super cheap but wasn't more expensive than other stainless
steel exhausts at the time.

Interesting idea, Zebee. I'll think about that one. I might also
badger Staintune till they decide to make a set for the GV650C. :-)

I was hoping also to elicit a wise comment from you about how one
best tackles tardy warranty providers.
