The bike is an '82 KZ550 and I am learning that rehabbing is an
automotive engineering tour de force. Everything that can be aged,
rusted, leaky, or otherwise degraded has been.
I am now putting the carbs back on and the manual explains the idle
circuit. It also warns me that the EPA will put me into prison if I
alter certain settings.
I am looking at the idle screws, they adjust the amount of air that
goes into the idle mixture, If I turn the screw to the right then the
needle valve closes, less air and more fuel enter the idle circuit and
the engine. Is that correct?
"In" for a richer mixtute and "out" for a leaner mixture. What say ye
O Fount of All Knowledge? Is that the answer or is there more to it.
BTW: as long as the carbs are off anyway, should I open up the chain
tensioner and grease the internals?
Thanks in advance,
Biker Dude
