Lucky enough to get my first trip to Fraser Island on the weekend. Lovely
place, but far too big to see on foot.

There were plenty of ****wits speeding in 4WDs, but no bikes. Are bikes
allowed on Fraser does anybody know?

Yes. You just need to get the appropriate vehicle permit before heading
across.

Is that like an "appropriate permit for your vehicle" or an
"appropriate-vehicle permit", ie. do they issue these permits as an entry
ticket, or is it something to do with their being happy that whatever it is
you're on/in won't get bogged in the sand below the high tide mark.

For example, if someone was to try to go to Fraser Island in a lowered
Lancer, would the response from the relevant authorities be "Sorry. Your
vehicle is inappropriate... and, for once, we don't mean that in an
aesthetic way.".
