Right, stand by your beds.

It's Champagne again, and the Hotel de la Place in Montmort-Lucy, near
Epernay, once more. Friday 30 April and Saturday 1 May. Hotel can
accommodate 50 people max, and allowing for single room sociopaths,
that probably means 40.

Deposit of 30% needs to be paid in about six weeks' time (early
January), so the usual booking form will be going out in the next day
or two, and dosh will be needed pronto. And yes, it'll be cheques.

Anticipated cost is somewhere in the region of £185 per head, based on
two people sharing a bike and a room. I'll know for sure as soon as
the hotel gets back to me with their rates. That will cover the ferry,
the usual four-course dinner each night, and breakfast. Drinks extra.

Lots of nice champagne cellars to visit in Epernay or Reims nearby.
Decent bar opposite the hotel, if I remember. Usual misbehaviour on
and off the road guaranteed. First timers welcome, but you'll need to
be nifty on your toes.

Usual rules. The hotel can handle special dietary needs like veggie,
Jewish, whatever, but I choose the menus and whines of "I don't like
fish" will be treated with contempt. The only valid objection is "I
don't like andouillette". It's money up front. Once the deposit has
been paid to the hotel, there are no refunds. There may be a free
place for the usual free give-away: can't remember who got one this
year. The Doctor did, plus someone else. And it was Ogden last year,
IIRC.

Up to a point.

Sit next to her at dinner and you can have almost double rations. As
long as you're quicker than Andy, of course!

My favourite food moment from there was SteveH's Katie looking at her
veggie asparagus - neatly wrapped in bacon.

Hehehe. A cunning ploy, eh?
