Only seeking expressions of interest at this stage; I've yet to get the
complete details of the bike (for example, I still don't know if it's the
model with ABS or not), but the following's stuff I _do_ know:

- Near-perfect condition
- Brand new genuine Triumph panniers (haven't been mounted to the bike)
- Registered 'til September 2012
- Black in colour

I'm selling this on behalf of family friends, as it's part of a deceased
estate (no, the original owner did _not_ meet his demise on the bike).
Nobody in the family rides, and given how closed the departed owner was to
his bike, are loathe to even look at it, let alone retain it, as it brings
up too many memories.

Anyone care to offer a guesstimate of what they should expect for it? Anyone
interested in buying it? It's currently garaged in Liverpool, in the
south-west of Sydney.

Offers of "treefiddy" and/or "kicks in the nuts" will drawn yawns. Yes, I
know it's customary, but is it really worth your while to type it?

ABS was an optional fitting

A realistic figure would be around the $7.500 to $8,000 mark
Admittedly, you will see them in dealers shops for around 11 - 12,000
but, they are offering a warranty of sorts.
Not really my type of bike, I have a 1994 Trophy but I bought that because
it was cheap, my older Trumps are a different matter

Was it worth your while to type that, Bob? [evil grin]

Hard to say what they might get for it.

Under the sad circumstances, they probably just want it disappeared, but
the market is pretty slow at the moment.

I think it should go for about ten grand, but, to get that could take
some time.

I'd also hazard a guess that, if they phoned a few dealerships, they
might be offered two or three grand, if they are lucky. :-(

By chance, I recently had a ride on a white Tiger 1050, the non ABS
model, from the same year and it was a very nice machine, just a tad too
tall for me to be really confident to live with, but nice to ride.

Might e-Bay be a good way for them to go?

While I wouldn't be interested in buying it at a reasonable price, I
could be tempted by it at $500 more than the best dealer's offer.

CrazyCam

Thanks for the feedback, Cam.

It'll be eBay with a realistic reserve; just waiting for the weather to
clear up so I can wheel it out of the garage 'n' get some decent photos.

Not entirely sure they'd be keen on the "$500 more than the best dealer's
offer," as dealers're notorious for offering nothing, giving it a wash
(sometimes not even that), then charging a fortune to the next unsuspecting
customer. But we'll wait 'n' see what happens.

The money's going toward the purchase of his daughters' first cars (likely
around $5k each guesstimate), so hopefully it'll get somewhere around the
$10k mark or not too far from it.

Thanks for the feedback, George.

I've seen dealer prices up as high as $14k for the same bike, but then
dealers're always a bit rich on pricing.

I'll be throwing it on eBay with a reasonable reserve - probably $7k - as
soon as the weather clears up enough for me to get some decent photos of it.

Hopefully they'll get closer to $10k for it, but we'll have to wait 'n' see.
As Cam said, the market seems to be a little slow at the moment.

It wasn't expected to be accepted....... and, if it was, Angie would
kill me. :-)

It's just, over the years, I've heard of quite a few bikes that got sold
off to dealers for washers when people without any background knowledge
of motorcycles have to get rid of a deceased estate bike.

Or take the case of people suffering from undiagnosed chronic
depression: In 1995 I _gave_ a "runs well" '81 Honda 750F2 to the
wreckers because it had a flat tyre and was out of rego and I wasn't
coping. Then again it may not have been my depression, it might have
been my stupidity. I must add that at the time I was riding a BMW
R65LS and the Honda thing was just rotting in the underground carpark
of a block of flats in Marrickville.
