Sunday I met up with Hoodlum Hart at Full Boar cycles in Hurst, and
discovered the store is closed; building empty. Does anyone know why they
closed? Facts only please

Well, their site responds -
"We are experiencing problems
with the inventory display program

Call 817-268-3400"

When I requested a view of the inventory.
That might be clue.

Also, a call to their 866-385-2627 returns
a recorded answer. But, it seems if you req-
uest an extension you are told that no one
is available, and disconnected.

A call to the Richardson Boar at 972-907-2627,
results in repeated "all circuits busy" message.

However, there's a couple of guys on their staff
that disclose their cell numbers. I don't know if
those are store/personal cells, but you might try
calling either of them for details.

Mike Guilfoil, and Dan Medley
http://www.fullboar.com/Contact_Full_Boar_Cycles.asp

Looks like it might be another Biker's Dream
type closure.

I dialed their toll free number and pressed "1" for motorcycle sales.
No answer. Their website http://www.fullboar.com/ gives a strong clue
as to why. 50% off store-wide clearance sale (Christmas). If they
didn't go out of business and just moved, seems to me that when I
called, there should have been someone to pick up the phone.

At least you didn't ride over there for nothing. It's all about the
ride, right?

Side note: Because of this post, I think I'll plonk/ploink myself, on
GP.
Louie, mind out of gutter.

Maybe right. With Obama promises for collateral we were potentially real
buyers this time. No more big talk for me and Big1. They may have missed a
sure bailout.

I've never plonked anyone and even if I did, I'd never tell you and
you'd never know. The reason you wouldn't know, is because killfiling
(plonking, ploinking, etc.) only affects the person who does the
killfiling. It keeps them from seeing posts of those they killfiled.
However, the plonker can still see the plonkees posts whenever someone
else responds to the plonked poster. The Power of Postive Plonking
Power.

Got it? You better. I'm all out of Ps.

Also, I was being facetious, ya know, "tongue-in-cheek". I'm fairly
sure *most* folks understood that. Oh look, I didn't P one time! 8^)

Same deal for me, except I began doing some research and asking some
people that used to work there or who did contract work.
It seems that they grew too fast during a bad time with opening the
Richardson location in Jan,2008.

When the economy tightened, it was too late. Randy had already signed
a contract on the Richardson location, took out loans and spent a few
hundred grand in renovations and inventory to launch the facilty.
Based on D&B disclosures, they did not even turn enough of a profit to
take care of their building overhead. Since finances were linked
between the two sites instead of ran as a seperate coporations, i.e.
Full Boar 1 and Full Boar 2, they could not protect the Euless
location and it went down also. If they were structured as separate
corporations, he could have bankrupted one and kept the one that was
breaking even in 2008.

Lesson for the day is... If you are in business for yourself, as you
make more money, don't let it go to your head, keep it real and
genuine. Real bikers don't need the fancy locations, just honesty and
reliability.

The last few times I went into Full Boar, I actually had some poor
customer service experiences, the place was disorganized with 5 people
behind the counter that would rather talk and BS each other rather
than helping the 4 customers that were standing in line. Randy Hobbs
sat in his office on the phone working his tail off, while his
employees were just there to collect a paycheck. He needed a
responsible floor manager that could set the expectation for customer
service. I tried to talk to Randy on those occasions, but he was a
busy bee. I think he was franticly trying to save the business and did
not have time to deal with those seemingly petty issues.

From those experiences, I vowed to never go back for any purchases.
Randy is a good honest guy, but his staff needed work. Sure, I'm a
biker and have heard cursing before, but I also had my wife and kids
present when the casual cussing was going on behind the counter. It's
disappointing that there was no respect for a lady or a childs ears,
or better yet keeping professionalism and customers respected.

If you want to deal with genuine people in a small shop atmosphere, I
found Che' and his wife at the Chop Shop in Euless to be the best in
providing mechanic service and parts. He's an old skooler, but
awesome. Keep it simple
