Classic cock-up.
They evidently forgot to use some of the proceeds of their scam to avoid
being sprung for the scam?

I remember the DAF/Volvo car was marketed and sold in Oz was the
Daf/Volvo 360 GLT and I think it was powered by a Renault power plant
and also had a trans-axle set up to. My memory of it is a tad on the
blurry side.

You are almost correct, except that the 360GLT had a genuine Volvo
B-series engine, 1.9ltr in early cars and 2.0 in later cars. In Europe
only they were were available with 1.4 and 1.7ltr engines also, which
were in fact Renault engines. Australia only got volvo engined cars
though. They did have a rear mounted transaxle setup with a torque
tube setup similar to Porsches of that era. DAF had to use a rear
mounted transaxle setup as the CVT transmission mounted up the front
would have made the transamission tunnel far to wide for a passenger
car. Thats what happens when you get Swedish and Dutch engineers
together in the same room...:-)

There are a few CVT 300-series cars in Australia, but most had the
normal rear mounted 5-speed gearbox.

I don't know what ATT or hybrid technology are, but Honda certainly
did not invent VTEC or the CVT. The CVT was first developed by a Dutch
company called DAF in the 60's, and the first mass produced car with
VVT was Alfa Romeo in the 80's, though it was probably developed well
before then. Japanese companies generally are not strong at coming up
with idea's; they leave that to Europeans and Americans, and then
excell at the mass production process.

I hate when people talk through their arse,NOTHING wrong with leaf springs
just ask Commodore who have returned to l/springs on the new 1-Tonner,also
look under any truck 99% leaf springs, horse for courses really,IRS whould be
**** for this application and look at all the problems Commodore has had
with wearing tyres with IRS...Yeap bragging rights

As for push-rods,simple,easy,reliable,cheap what more do you want.Enjoy
shimming your valves every 10,000km and changing rubber cam belts every
60,000km

U like Motorsports , the Indy 500 was won with push rods not that long ago
