The backup battery on my Ipaq has gone, so if you remove the main
battery it does a hard reset.

And it's 4 days out of warranty.

So it'll cost me £25+VAT to have a new battery fitted because HP in
their infinite wisdom decide to solder the battery to the mainboard.

Try getting a replacement battery for an iPod.

That was one reason why I bought a Creative Zen. User-replaceable
battery.

Wouldn't know what earphones it has tbh, they're still in the box and
I use my decent Sonys.

I'm looking at getting an MP3 player; fairly cheaply. Any
recommendations, links, etc.

I have an MD Walkman ATM but it's such a PITA to export MP3 tracks to it.

I'll certainly recommend the 60Gb Zen Xtra that I've got, but "fairly
cheap" it isn't.
