Mine (a ZB31 - plunger model, black with a chrome and green tank) didn't
smoke - however, locally it *WAS* known as the Torrey Canyon...

True - like large marine vessels they take a long time to stop, but that
*WAN'T* why mine was known as the Torrey Canyon.

I wish.

Never even had a chance to hit the brakes, the car turned right in front of
me and the first I knew about it was when I took up flying.
Years of experience count for bugger all in an accident like that.

Yep - insured. I have my legal nasties chasing 'em at the moment.
What punishment did the legal system mete out to the offending driver ?

They sent her on a "driver improvement" course - no court appearance or
anything similar.

That was my first ever crash that was. I was accelerating away from a
roundabout, & one of the cars queueing on the other side of the road
decided he didn't want to queue anymore & turned across in front of me.

I hit him square on, did a full somersault over his roof, & landed on
my feet. I was fine, the bike was fine (rode it home), his car was
nicely ****ed.

PS GWS.

I hope you've written to your MP asking them to explain why breaking
the speed limit by n MPH is dangerous driving, but something that is
demonstrably dangerous, isn't. I'd go for lots of emotive stuff -
'sending out the message that maiming/killing motorcyclists is
acceptable blah blah'.

Guessing who that MP might be, I'm not sure that he would be terribly
interested. A shame, particularly as at Local Authority level Sandwell
MBC were showing some positive interest in PTW matters as the
Moonshiners own pages confirm - albeit back in 2000.

Oh, and GWS Lone Wolf.

Sorry to hear that. Hope the prognosis is good. To be honest I
didn't miss you until you posted, IYSWIM, but that's how my life goes.

All the best.
