Here's a novel idea, try a motorcycle type topic. You could always
start an oil thread. Here, let me help.

Synthetic oil in _motorcycles_. Pros? Cons? Don't care?

I tried synthetic in my V-Star. Didn't like it. Doesn't work well as
blinker fluid either.

See how easy that is? Have at it.

You forgot Muffler bearings...but that isn't as fun I guess. They are
a real product you know. 8^)

Shaft v. Chain which really is better?

And blinkers aren't? Whoa!

I like my shaft drive. No chain to grease and chains can make a
helluva mess if you over do it... or don't do it. Of course if a
chain craps out, you can replace it easier/cheaper than a final gear.
Never trust that the factory, or the dealer has greased the spline.

I have it on good authority that DOT 3 brake fluid cannot be used as a
replament for the proper blinker fluid...not to good on paint or so
I'm told.

ah, hmmm...you don't grease motorcycle chains. You oil them. 8^) I use
either olive oil or astro glide (self warming for temps below 10F).

Wouldn't know, never blew up a final drive yet.

8^) Inspect when you get home. Unless you have say, oh a 2,000mi+ ride
home. I haven't done that but I've know folks who have.

OH I missed a good one. Granted the kids here wont appreciate it
(25-35). The folly of rebuilding a barn fresh 1972 Suzuki T-500 with
one munched piston, all the electrical connectors crumbling , no
instruments, not a turn signal on it, tail light disintegrated and NO
title since about 78' or so and damn little providence for supporte.

===sure nuff'. Thanks for your suggestion. However I've probably posted
as many real MC Topics on our fine group, as anybody.
You reminded us, (most of us) of some good MC related topics.
If you ride a Honda, it is really important to use synethic oil.
What I didnt like about chains, was having to adjust them out on a trip,
a sizable trip, that is.
I had me a yellow dot marked on each tire, so that i could spray chain
lube on, then roll it a ways, and continue, till I see the yellow dot
again...(pretty good huh)
Do you realize most torque bikes, like crotchrockets, are chain driven.
Do you are Keith know why???
WestTexRider, maybe we got something going here, and just maybe it'll
attract our friend Skooter Bum....hope so...........MrjayT=

Oily, greasy, whatever. It's all grease to me.
Oh, and I always knew you were kinky. hehe

Dealer told me they "serviced it proper" before I rode it home... and
then several thousand miles. Not a drop of grease.

Vague memories here, of a Honda Magna. I finally swapped it for some
other stuff. I should have kept it and parted it out.

Chain drives allow you to adjust your motorcycle's final drive ratio
and they are also highly efficient, light in weight and inexpensive.
Perfect for motorcycles that go need speed.
Stuff also can get hung up in them. BON, I knew a guy that got his
floppy pants leg caught in a chain. He and bike were a mess.

I owned a Honda Magna V30. That's the closest I ever got to anything
even remotely like a crotch rocket, except for the little Honda 80 my
son had. It was like, well... like riding a mini crotch rocket. hehe
That was a hoot. I was also much younger back then.
