Fair point. All right, as close to **** all as is practicable, then.

Speaking (whatever) personally, I can rely on the Disco knowing its own
way home, but I wouldn't go within several yards of the bike if I'd had a
drink.

OTOH, when I lived in London and cycled everywhere, I figured you only
had to get on a (push)bike after an evening in the pub to become suddenly
completely sober. Why doesn't that work for a motorbike?

A few years ago I was riding my bicycle after a few large drinks.

I landed in a spikey hedge which was funny as **** at the time.

The following morning OTOH...

Similar tale here, upon leaving the pub I was convinced I could
perform the perfect wheelie after several pints of hobgoblin, but
instead managed to pretty much perform a backward somersault on the
spot. I lay on the floor laughing for a couple of minutes
afterwards, and my back was still decoratively bruised a good week
later.

What else can they do? Banning smoking completely will never work
because there aren't enough cops in the land to enforce it and raising
taxes even higher just won't work because the majority of smokers are
buying duty free tobacco already.

It did, in the eighties.

True

Are they? Genuinely curious as to the accuracy of that.

As an ex-smoker[1] I am genuinely stunned by how much I notice people
smoking now. Especially when, for example, leaving a concert. As soon
as one gets into the smoking permitted zone, it seems[2] like being back
in the 'bad old days'

[1] Aren't they always the worst?
[2] This is a purely subjective view. I genuinely don't remember finding
smoking quite so 'in your face' when it was more widespread.
