You meet when you least expect it.

Me and the missus went to see Dennis Locorriere play tonight and he had as
his support act a couple of musicians I'd never heard of. One being the
singer/guitarist/pianist and the other her bass player (and husband if I
heard correctly). The singer is one Emily Maguire and Christian Dunham the
bass player. Un-****ing-believable.

Both really personable folk and very approachable and considering her life
living with bi-polar, bloody well balanced too. And not to put too fine a
point on it, she's drop dead gorgeous too.

She sang every word from the bottom of her soul and he played bass so
perfectly it was as if he was inside her head when he stroked his weapon
(f'narr) THE most soulful bass playing I've ever heard and the perfect
instrument to bring out her voice and guitar, not to mention her piano
playing.

All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable evening and I'd recommend a trip to at
least her website where there are a raft of vids and then to one of her
gigs.

As a taster, here's a vid giving you an idea of how good she is and how
complimentary her bass player is. ****ing excellent.

Are we supposed to know who they are?

Or is it just me?

I saw him a couple of years back, supported by the bloke who used to be
the lead singer in Smokie.

Of course, he sang Living Next Door to Alice.

And of course, the audience turned it into the Chubby Brown version!

Woohoo.

Not what I call folk, but whatever.

Was OK-ish, but I shan't be rushing out to buy her stuff.

I wouldn't have thought so, but who knows. I'm sure I'm not the only person
to never have heard of them.

I doubt it.

So what exactly *is* folk music?. As it happens she does rock stuff too.
Well rockish anyway.

He needs a slap for doing that.

Talking of folk music, Richard Thompson is touring again.

He only has 1 date near here, in Treorchy om 14 July of all places. Seems
to be be a 600 seat theatre in the middle of the Rhondda Valley. Oh well,
that will be an interesting drive home over the Rhigos mountain road in the
dark. Hope the sheep are wearing fluoro-bibs...

If you keep your headlights on main beam, they'll come to you. Saves all
that running around I've heard.
