A while back I was burning along the Melbourne - Geelong freeway when I saw
a Ducati with its hazards on parked on the right hand side.
I pulled up and he waved me on saying something about the interlock playing
up.

On NYE I was talking to a guy who had a interlock fitted to his car.

It was explained that this was fitted because it was ordered by a court.
He also has/had a problem with driving while ****ed.

Penalties for messing up again are 5 years, this includes driving something
without a interlock regardless of BAC.

Sounds heavy to me though I guess if you do the crime...... however

This interlock device is basically a breathalyser immobiliser that requires
the driver to blow 0.00.
The interlock will then require further samples WHILE DRIVING at random
times but usually around 5-10 minutes.
Of course there is a cost to fit the interlock.
They also need to be checked/serviced every month at a cost.

Seems a little bit of a money making scam and also a risk to the driver and
others who are around while the driver is trying to provide another sample.

Note, the interlock will request a sample and allow the engine to continue
running while this is provided. You could basically drive for hours so long
as you provide a sample WHILE DRIVING multiple times.

very strange, sounds dangerous on a motorcycle having to breathe into it
every so often.Aim it into the wind that would have zero alcohol.

Do you have a valid reason for driving over the speed limit rider? Wull
offersher, uff I don't do at least 110 the interlock doesn't get enough draft
and me motor keeps stopping.

Hi betty, you poor wee soul....

I hope this is a holiday trip and not one of those "last gasp" visits.

Even for folk who live (?) in Canberra, the UK at this time of the year
is no laughing matter.

(Well, actually, it is, so long as you don't have to be there. ;-))

regards,
