Yesterday I spent the night with a good mate I hadn't caught up with
for two years. Kerry and I are godparents to his two daughters, one
aged 10, the other 15. But my movements around the country have kept
us separated for a while. Anyway, when Isabella (the 15 year old) was
born, Phil figured he was not going to be able to cope with his wife
having a Cesarean birth as he faints at the sight of blood. So Kerry
went to the pre-natal classes with Donna and was in the hospital by
her side when Bella was born. In true Aussie style Phil and I got Matt
Hamilton to open up Joe's Garage at 7am (it was in a different
location back then) and he cooked us breakfast and served us free beer
til I got a call from Kerry to tell Phil he has a beautiful baby
daughter and to get his arse over to the hospital (only one block
away). Was a fairly surreal day.
On a side note, Donna has just dropped me back into Launceston and I
made a comment to her "has Phil bought a shotgun and rocking chair
yet?". Bella has grown into a stunningly beautiful young woman. She's
gunna have to fend the blokes off with a machete.
