I got my knee reconstruction 4 weeks ago. Still weak and painful. Getting better
though.

How long did it take for others with a knee reconstruction to get back on a
bike?

Looks a nice tidy job :-)

I've heard lots of ppl say that knee reconstructions are far more painful
than hips (and longer recovery as well.) Can't speak from experience though.
I still have all the original bits, battered and worn though they may be.

Are you being good with all your physio?

Hope you're better soon - the weather's starting to look pretty good for
riding! (Well, down here it is - it's probably been lovely up your way for
ages now...) Your Shadow must be feeling lonely and neglected ;-)

Knee recos seem to have advanced a lot in the past few years. A mate of
mine had one knee done about 10 years ago and was stuck on the couch
with his leg in a brace for 6 weeks. About 2 years ago he had the other
knee done and he was back at work on crutches the same week. Probably
depends on the surgeon too. This time he went to a bloke who fixes
knees for lots of AFL players.

A lot definitely depends on the surgeon. And on your willingness to
endure pain while doing your exercises.

Mum was on industrial strength painkillers while doing hers, and they
still hurt.

I'll trade you for a hip & shoulder replacement.

From what I've heard round the wards it varies depending on how good your
doctor (or insurance) is.
