Some of you are aware that Marina has not been well for some months now.
Owen has asked me to post an update on here for those who know her.

Marina has cancer, which has spread to several vital organs, and is now
terminal. She has been moved to a hospice. Owen has taken a leave of
absence from work, and is with her most of every day. Between the cancer
and the increasing doses of pain meds, she is easily tired and easily
confused, but still has periods of lucidity. She's really not up to
visitors apart from immediate family, however.

If anyone wishes to send her a message, please send it to Owen at

pericles at ntlworld dot com

and he'll read them to her as the opportunity presents itself.

I wasn't aware, but then I haven't been around here very much.

Thanks for letting me (and others) know.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember "platypus"

<gloom>
Oh, for ****'s sake, that's a bit inconvenient.
I have a black pill she can have.

****, not much point in a GWS, then.

****. I don't know what to say. I only met her twice, briefly (with
Owen, naturally - what a singular character, and a fine chap) at the
Black Horse in years gone by. Good people both, humanity at it's
finest. Life really isn't fair.

Ah. Not good news. Thanks. Poor Marina. Why is it always the ones you
don't want to get cancer who always do, while the true buggers seem hale
& hearty?

It wasn't in our feed, either. I think I saw one post from SD
the other day and thought, "Blimey, he hasn't posted in a while." -- maybe
it was a followup.
