After Sundays ride to the coast on 84 and various roads I discovered the
rear Sportec split on the left side off of center. Close examination
revealed (in my opinion) that the tire cracked from stress. It looks close
to a scalloping effect. No obvious cuts or gouges from a foreign object. By
direction and driving hard out of left turns the tire simply broke--and deep
too.

The meat has maybe a 1000 miles on it. This may be one freak incident. I
have not heard of others failing this way. Check your rubbers for ga[
^ ]ping holes just in case.
