Do other people seem to miss a lot of posts to this NG.

Topics seem to appear with "re:...." and replies which, by themselves, are
unintelligible. Yes, I know, some replies are unintelligible at the best of
times..

I'm on Optusnet cable

Ron

Very timely. My news server is pretty erratic at the moment too.

Dunno how many posts were posted in the time between 11 last night and 6
tonight but my news server said 90...seems a bit low...

Not in my case. I last used default MS settings when 'OE' was 'Internet
News'...

I'm with d2.net.au.

For a couple of days last week there were no posts at all. Last night I got
a message dated the first of July.

A couple of months ago, It told me it was downloading almost 29,000 new
messages. Every message dating back to the middle of 2001...

It automatically deletes messages with attachments or ones written in HTML so you tend to get REALLY
unintelligible threads with just 15 "DON'T POST THAT **** HERE, DICKHEAD" messages.
But otherwise it's a ripper!.

Same here Rustydog. I think what Robbie Vidler said is right though - it's
something to do with only receiving 300 headers 'at a time'. If you have
your news browser set to do this (the default) you only get to see random
pieces of the jigsaw puzzle, as it were. Check your settings, or just
manually download all possible messages (might take a while!)
By the way, are you in Darwin?
