A new rule has been put in place for MotoGP, effective immediately..

Marco Simoncelli has been banned from Qualifying and will start from
Pole position for the remainder of the 2011 season. Simoncelli will
start a half a lap ahead of the field so when he does crash he will
not take anyone with him.

The other riders are furious with the new rule...they just wanted him
shot.

I thought that he had pole position for Assen anyway,
It is odd but when I was watching the race, I thought that Simoncelli was
ahead of Lorenzo,
same with the last race at Catalunya when he crashed bringing Pedrosa
down,he was ahead as he was in a passing manoeuvre

Naah; leave him in qualifying, he seems to have figured out qualifying OK.
Racing is a whole other matter though.

(PS. I reckon he'll win 5 in a row when he finally cracks the jinx)

a bit like a woolly-headed Casey Stoner or Jorge Lorenzo, you mean? I
remember sending a post to ausmoto in Jorge's rookie year, about how, if I
were Jorge's mum, I'd be begging hi to give up racing for his Mama's sake.
So many crashes....

I think we're seeing a true rising star in Signore Fright-Wig - but at the
moment his drive and enthusiasm need to be tempered by experience and the
Size 10 boots of his competitors...

I dunno. I reckon Casey Stoner could probably take some "how to push
start your own bike without getting sooky with the marshalls and crying"
lessons from Marco, and de Puniet could probably get some how to finish
a race lessons from him. (I know he's not the most finishingest rider,
but de P should set realistic goals).

On a not quite related note, a couple of Aussies have had a bash at the
Moto2 class in the past few months, brothers Alex and Damien have each
had wildcard rides and had pretty good results. Their parents, Shane
and Annette, are taking part in the 2011 Iron Butt Rally, currently
underway in the USA, the only Australian participants this year.

I wonder if the fans will hang signs off the fence similar to that which enraged
Christian Sarron's camp way back when.

"Share the Christian experience - Crash".

How can something like that be worked into Simoncelli's name?

Or the F1 driver, Andrea de Cesaris (Andrea de Crasharis...)

For all his failings as a competitor, he does hold a F1 record which
might never be broken, although for a while it did look like Mark Webber
was giving it a crack.

Speaking of names ripe for shithanging.. 80's-90's pommie 500cc rider
Simon Buckmaster (Simon Backmarker)
