One-piece or two-piece engine guards?

Hope this is an appropriate topic for this forum. I've searched in
rec.motorcycles, and here, and haven't been able to find an answer.

I want to put engine guards on my Honda VT1100C, and I'm looking at
either the Cobra two-piece set or the MC Enterprises one piece. Can
anyone tell me the relative advantages or drawbacks of a one piece
versus a two piece engine guard? Both are 1.25" in thickness.

Is one type stronger or more durable than the other?

Does either type offer more room for the rider and controls?

Is either type easier or more difficult to install? I don't do much of
this kind of work, but I managed to install a windshield OK, so I'd
like to try this as well.

If it matters, I also plan to mount a set of Kuryakin highway pegs to
the engine guard.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Greg

None that I can think of.

On BMWs, I've heard one or two people complain about frame damage with a
one piece bar. Not really sure if there's anything to it or not.

My suspicion is that a two piece might have some advantage in that it's
more able to bend a little without transmiting all the impact to the frame.

Stronger or more durable isn't necessarily a good thing if it's supposed
to be a sacrificial piece.
