Sukhoi (prn. "Soo-hoy)" Su-25 close air-support aircraft... NATO codename,
"Frogfoot".

How's that one?

Heh heh; that's a goodie too.
It must be part of a cold-war plan to overcome the enemy using
derision-warfare!
I seem to recall that the russian VTOL Harrier-lookalike had a silly name
too. (Which apparantly caused it so much shame it stopped flying
altogether!)
I'll have to look it up when I get home.....

The Yakovlev Yak-36 awkward-looking proof-of-concept thing with the engine
in the nose and Harrier-style swivelling nozzles under the trailing edge of
the wing was the "Freehand".

The Yak-38 was the operational fleet-defence machine for the dinky little
aircraft carriers the Soviets had and a total cock-up, what with a pair of
lift-only engines behind the cockpit to lug around when it wasn't flying
vertically. NATO called that the "Forger", so not too serious.

....and I can't be sure just now which of the early Soviet interceptors was
tagged the "Fagot"; I'm sure they had the musical instrument in mind when
they came up with that.

Mig-15 apparantly! (So a lot of Yanks got rooted by Fagots during the
Korean war!)
I'm surprised I'd never heard that name before.
