Went in to see an eye specialist this morning and got the all clear, but
as part of it I was administered Atropine or something similar. Problem
was, it was a phone appointment and there was no letter to warn me.
Buggerit, had to sit for three effing hours in the hospital car park
until my vision improved enough to drive home.
Strange effects were - on the brightest day of the year so far, I was
stumbling around like a blind drunk **** because everything was ultra
bright. The focusing wasn't too good either, with odd blurry effects,
oddly only at some distances.
Eventually the effects subsided enough to make the attempt at driving -
**** me, what a bastard.

Us sugar mongs have this every year, that's why I get SWMBO to drive, and
wear dark glasses even if it's overcast.

Heh, the last (and only) time I had that done I was a school kid. I
decided to use the time at home off school to build an airfix model.

It looked perfect at the time.

Oh how I larfed when I saw the results the next day.

They should have warned you to take a decent pair of sunglasses. They use
Atropine to fully dilate the pupil so they can look inside, hence the
brightness. Such a wide aperture drastically reduces the depth of field so
you find it difficult to focus close up for a while. Did they stick one of
those lens things in your eye too?

not long, as long as you steer clear of mirrors

Nasty stuff, that is.

I was given it when they checked my eyes out a few months ago for
hypertension.

Fortunately I won't have to go back again.

I get that stuff in my eyes twice a year for the blokes to photograph the
backs of my eyes. Stings like a bastard but I always go on my own and drive
home squinting behind a pair of sunnies or a dark visor.

I think driving blind is still better than being driven by a woman.

A possible whoosh, I suspect.
