Sardinia wasn't so much chaotic as entirely populated by people who
simply hadn't seen a car before.

Driving in Maderia recently was somewhat similar to driving in Italy,
but the Italians have a lot more bottle.

If someone is bearing down on you quickly in a big Mercedes flashing
his lights, it's usually best to back down or get out of the way
sharpish, 'cos you aren't going to win. (Unless you're in a truck or a
big 4x4)
