Anyone in the NG have experience of small diesel gensets running on 100%
vegetable oil. Be it anything from sunflower to coconut to recycled chip
fat. Wondering where to acquire such a thing. Something up to 4KW.

I understand that they generally have to be converted (or OEM) to run
exclusively on VO or one ends up with twin tanks and starting/stopping purge
routines.

This isn't to use in the UK but could be bought here and shipped. Any info
or pointers gratefully received.

"vegetable oil generator" seems to get a fair few hits on gwgl.

is a bit more powerful than you want. They have a 3 kW one, too.

I have a 110v diseasel genny which I guess could run on, or be converted
to run on v.o.

Not sure of its output, it's been under a heap for a long time. Genny
bit suggests a fairly substantial output, say 3 KVA

For the chance of ever using it, I'd part with it very cheaply. (With
handle, turns over, compression OK.)

It's in South Norfolk thobut

Cheers but I'm after a self starting 230V unit and reading up if I want a
4kw supply I should source a 6kw unit for reliability.
I'll be looking for a self contained silenced unit. Possibly liquid cooled
as I could run a heat exchanger. Though TBF one's "hot" water requirements
are remarkably low at 30c ambient and the washing machines/detergents sold
out there are geared towards cold washing. None of it is technically cold
water, it comes out the outdoors header tank at >20c I'm guessing.

Thinking about it at 35-40c summer temperatures an air cooled stationary
engine wouldn't be very clever.

Won't you get stuff growing in the veg oil tank at those temps? I guess
you can 'denature' it with real Diesel or a small amount of methanol
possibly.

At least you won't get waxing... :-)
