Pilot air screw with a cross-drilled hole?

What is the correct name for a pilot air screw with a cross drilled
hole in it?

These were used on Mikuni VM carburetors 30 years ago...

AIR, once the screw was turned out about 2.5 ~ 3.0 turns, the cross-
drilled hole by-passed air and made the mixture as lean as the pilot
jet would allow...
