Hi all,

My tail light globe has just blown and I wanna new one. It works when
braking, but the filament for the always on bit is buggered.

Does anyone know where I can get a new one on a Sunday in Melbourne? I
called Repco, coz I now they're open Sundays, but they say they don't stock
'em.

I'm in the inner city area, but need globe will travel (within reason,
although a trip to Sydney would be fun).

Cheers,
JP

I've always bought my replacement bulbs from Repco. Did you say "for a VN250"? Because I suspect they wouldn't know what that is.
Just pull the globe out and take it in, you'll most likely find a suitable replacement.

Problem is, some servos have become such convenience stores that they barely
stock any car accessories at all. Last time I went to buy fuses for my car I
had to try about 2 or 3 petrol stations before I found one which had what I
wanted. The staff in them also are unlikely to know much if you ask questions
about whatever you're buying. Repco staff at least will have a bit of a clue,
and most likely will stock the item you're after.

That's true, the garrage nearest my place has *NO* auto parts, it was all replaced with a comm-bank atm machine.
the other two have some, but they both occupy a back wall and a single set of shelves respectively.. and there
isnt a spade fuse on either of them. I just have stuck to the over-paranoia thing and have about a half dozen
fuses of varying capacity floating about inside my ash tray[1] and a 5l bottle of oil and basic tool kit in the boot.

makes life a little less worrysome

[1] i dont smoke, that makes life even less worrysome.

The EL250 comes with an ashtray? Let's see Harley copy that
with their new-fangled V-rod thingy!

Why don't you just swap it for the spare that you keep under the seat
(with the spare headlight and indicator globes and fuses).

When I had a bike with no room ubder the seat, I used to put them in
foam lined boxes and tape them to a hidden part of the frame. I don't
ever want to find myself out and about in the bush at night without a
headlight (again).

That one time I was rescued by a passing Jawa rider (yes, it was a
long time ago) who donated the spare globe he kept in the side cover
that doubled as a little tool cupboard.

uhm, no, it's not under the seat.
it's actually a small area underneath the battery that has a door on it and all too.
The seat is bolted to the frame, and is only ever taken off if you need to get at
the carbs or take the tank off.
