The zener used on SOBs clips at 15 volts to reduce the total energy
delivered from the crude pulses of the permanent magnet alternator.
If a car's alternator delivered 15 volts it would boil the car battery to
hellandgone rather quickly which would tend to be noticed.
So the risk of a buggered car alternator going unnoticed for long enough
to be used to jumpstart a bike is minimal and even then the bikes
battery would need to be pre-****ed to not absorb the short term
overcharge.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember R C Nesbit <(E-Mail Removed)> saying
