hi does anyone have any experience with rider to pillion intercoms.
There appears to be a large number for sale across the internet and
bike shops varying in price from about $30 up to $600. Which ones
actually work. How much do you need to spend to get a good one?

I had one of the $30 jobs from Dick Smith and found it to be pretty good up
to about 90kmh. After that the wind noise was just too much but I suspect
you'd get that with any intercom.. I had to give it away though, my wife
complained that all she heard from me was one long torrent of swearing about
the traffic around me (12 years of commuting will do that to you).
Dave.

DON'T DO IT!
Do not let your wife jabber at you while you're riding.
Riding is for thinking, telling yourself jokes, clacking your teeth in time with music in your head and
working out your mileage to 2 decimal places. Don't ruin it!
(Besides; you can't wear earplugs and wearing earplugs is a good thing.)
Clem
[One of our first intercom experiences was my wife listening to me yelling "**** oh **** oh ****ing ****
****..." after a bee stung my gloveless knuckle]

No experience with Rider -> Pillion intercoms, but I have a bike ->
bike intercom system that works and is cheap enough to use rider ->
pillion that can also be used simultaniously bike -> bike.

Simply put... small hand-held UHF CB radio (available at Dickies).
Make sure it has a headset socket (Unidens do generally tho base model
doesn't). I use the VOX feature (voice activation) and have mounted 2
speakers and a microphone into my helmet (which doubles as speakers
for a discman when I don't use the CB).

If you get one with CTCSS then you can even block out other traffic
unless they are on the same "subchannel"

email if you want more info awolf1981 at hotmail.com - I don't check
in here too often
