It lives !
The YP250 Majesty that I bought for a song last week on ebay has a
shiney new MOT thanks to some new fork seals and some minor fettlement.

The little Sukida scoot was OK around town but a PITA outside of a
30 limit so I was tempted by a superscoot.
First impressions: This is the lardarse tourer of the scoot world, a bit
wide and heavy for agressive filtering but goes as well as can be expected
for a 250 and manages a 70+ cruise on the motorway despite the big screen.
Armchair comfort, very low GofG and great weather protection.
The low seat and feet-forward position felt a bid odd at first but it
does a fine job as a long range shopping trolley with loads of storage
plus a big top box. Not sure yet about fuel consumption but the little
10 litre tank does not bode well for tank range.

FS: One 50cc scoot, nice condition, only 2000 genuine km.

Value about 50 quid, cos all it's worth is breaking for spares, no-one
wants badly made used Chinese scooters and we don't want the hassles
that go with selling them. We break every single one of them that comes
into our shop in px, and we turn away three times that many because
they are absolutely worthless. Bossman has been known to allow 100 quid
in px but ask the owner not to ever let it darken our doorstep again -
in other words "we'll allow you so much, but leave it at home cos it's
more than our trouble is worth to pick it up and throw it in the
dumpster". Some of these bikes have less than 5000km on the clock.

They are garbage, and it doesn't matter what name is on the side, they
are all as badly made as each other, basically because they are just
generic Chinese made **** with different stickers.

I was thinking of getting a scoot for using aroung town - any
recommendations? - I was thinking one of the Gilera runners might be
fun - something like the 2 smoke 180cc version

The chinese 50s and 125s are fine around town if you treat them
as disposable. No problems in 18 months apart from an indicator
switch. Plenty of cheap new parts for most available from
http://www.chinesemotorcyclepartsonline.co.uk/ but check their
website for your exact model before buying, some are not supported.

If you want Italian I would go for a Vespa, they are good and hold
their price well.

I had exactly that in... 2001.

Good fun, actually - had an indicated 90mph out of it the once,
indicated 80mph was more the norm flat out, and would have most
cooking model cars up to about 50mph off the lights.

I say 'indicated', as it was pretty obvious the speedo was ever so
slightly optimistic.

They're not badly built (1), they're comfy, you can fit plenty of
beers under the seat, (although conversely, not a full face lid), and
they're pretty much bombproof depreciation wise if in good nick no
matter what age they are, as they're much more sought after than the
later four stroke models.

Were they a bit cheaper, I'd consider having another in the stable for
occasional use.

Plenty of shitters out there now and always used to be a target for
thieving pikey chav bastards, so choose wisely.

(1) For a modern Italian scooter.

O ye of little faith.
Sold, paid and collected. £325 cash
Gumtree rocks, only listed it yesterday and the phone calls keep coming.
There seems to be a thriving market in 50cc cheap stuff for teenagers.

Buy a TGB, dirt cheap but reliable as most Hondas mainly because Honda
make a lot of their scooters in China. TGB are Taiwanese but ****ing
well engineered for a cheap scooter. They just don't break. New ones
are cheap as chips too.

Avoid anything Chinese and all Peugeots, cos they are also mainly
Chinese shite with French badges. Italian stuff isn't bad if it's low
mileage and cared for, but avoid anything owned by a teenager cos it'll
be ****ed and worthless. I've only seen 2 scooters owned by teenagers
that have been cared for, and that's because they're owned by 2 well
brought up lads whose dads and brothers are serious bike riders.

Do SupaMoto happen to sell TGB??
Only ****ing with ya, there are a few good chinese / taiwanese makes
and while a Gilera Runner 180cc 2stroke would be the bollox fun wise,
the parts can be ****ing expensive frankly!

There's one born every ****ing minute. I'd feel guilty selling a
Chinese bike to anyone.
